Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated:
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how NyaIcon (“NyaIcon,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and retains information when you use the NyaIcon website, Mac app, APIs, icon catalog, and related online services (together, the “Services”).
NyaIcon does not require an account, purchase, license key, or device activation. Icon changes and imported artwork are handled locally on your Mac; browsing or downloading catalog content requires an online request.
Privacy at a glance: NyaIcon has no accounts or payments. Imported artwork and icon backups stay on your Mac unless you choose to send a file to support. The website uses no cookies or third-party advertising analytics, and NyaIcon does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
1. Information we collect
Local app data
NyaIcon may store preferences, favorites, recent activity, icon backups, and imported artwork on your Mac so the app can apply, undo, and restore icon changes. NyaIcon does not upload imported artwork or icon backups.
Catalog requests
When you browse or download a theme, our servers receive the request and the technical information ordinarily sent with it, such as IP address, request time, app version, operating-system information, response status, and error details.
Website analytics
We use cookie-free, first-party analytics to understand website usage, advertising attribution, download clicks, mobile-to-Mac handoffs, and completed downloads. The analytics record may contain the event time, request method, normalized event and path, response status and bytes sent, completion state, one-time random event identifiers, validated placement and campaign labels, a coarse referring-source category such as direct, organic search, or referral, normalized UTM labels, and advertising click identifiers supplied in the landing URL.
Advertising click identifiers may include Google gclid, gbraid, or wbraid values, Meta fbclid values, and X twclid values. These are pseudonymous advertising identifiers rather than anonymous aggregate fields. We use them only to connect an advertising visit with a NyaIcon download. We do not currently send these analytics records or identifiers to Google, Meta, or X.
The analytics record does not contain an IP address, cookie, full User-Agent string, screen dimensions, full referring URL, original request URI, or unvalidated query or header value. We do not assign a reusable NyaIcon visitor ID or use these records to follow a person across unrelated websites.
For analytics purposes, a completed download means that our server delivered the complete DMG file. It does not tell us whether a person installed, opened, or used NyaIcon.
Support communications
We receive the information you provide when you contact support, including your email address, message, attachments, and any app, macOS, or device details you choose to share.
Sources of information
We collect information directly from you when you contact us; automatically from requests made by your browser or the Mac app; and from referral, campaign, or advertising parameters included in a link you choose to open. We do not currently obtain consumer profiles from data brokers.
Service and security logs
Our systems may record IP address, request time, normalized request path, response status, error information, and security events. The website operational log omits query strings, cookies, full referring URLs, and full User-Agent strings. We use these records to operate, diagnose, and protect the Services.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide and deliver NyaIcon and its icon catalog.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and excessive automated traffic.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Services.
- Answer support requests and send important service or policy notices.
- Meet legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
3. Cookies, browser storage, and tracking choices
The current public website does not require an account and does not store a NyaIcon sign-in session. Our first-party analytics does not set or read cookies or local storage. It may keep a coarse referring-source category, validated campaign labels, advertising click identifiers, and a one-time mobile handoff identifier in the current tab’s session storage so attribution is not lost when you move between NyaIcon pages. NyaIcon uses this stored attribution for no more than 30 minutes; expired values are removed on the next NyaIcon page load, and the browser removes them when the tab session ends. NyaIcon also removes known advertising parameters from the visible URL after capture.
The current website does not load Google Ads, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other third-party advertising or analytics scripts, and NyaIcon does not currently upload conversion events to those platforms. The Inter typeface is served from nyaicon.com itself rather than a third-party font CDN, so loading a page does not disclose your IP address or browser details to any outside provider.
On a phone or tablet, choosing “Send download link to my Mac” opens your device’s system share interface. The shared link contains a one-time random handoff identifier rather than an advertising click identifier. Any share service you choose handles the link under that service’s own terms.
Some browsers can send Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) or Do Not Track (“DNT”) signals. Because NyaIcon does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, a GPC signal does not change our current practices. The Services do not otherwise respond differently to DNT signals. No third-party advertising or analytics service currently collects personal information over time across unrelated websites through the NyaIcon website.
4. How we share information
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: Infrastructure providers for hosting, security, and delivery, and the email provider that receives messages you choose to send to support.
- At your direction: when you ask us to connect a feature or otherwise consent to the disclosure.
- Legal and safety reasons: when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or enforce our agreements.
- Business changes: in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transfer of all or part of the business, subject to applicable law.
- Aggregated information: information that does not reasonably identify an individual may be used or disclosed for product and operational purposes.
Each provider handles information under its own terms and privacy policy.
5. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted network connections and access controls.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you are responsible for protecting access to your Mac and email.
6. Data retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed to provide and secure the Services, comply with law, and resolve disputes.
- Website analytics: first-party analytics records, including advertising click identifiers, are automatically deleted within 14 days.
- Service logs: retained for a limited period needed for reliability, security, abuse prevention, and debugging.
- Support messages: retained while needed to answer your request and maintain an appropriate support record.
These periods are operational defaults and may change as the Services evolve. Backups and legal holds may delay deletion for a limited period.
7. Your privacy rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information. You may also have rights to object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, or receive portable data. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and legal exceptions may apply.
You can stop using the online catalog and delete locally stored app data by removing the app and its local files. California residents may also request information about covered collection and disclosure practices. NyaIcon does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To submit a privacy request, contact nyaicon.official@gmail.com. You may use an authorized agent where applicable law permits.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right provided by applicable law. If applicable law gives you a right to appeal our response, you may do so by replying to our decision. Because NyaIcon has no account system or reusable website visitor identifier, we may be unable to connect an analytics record to you; we will explain when we cannot reasonably verify or locate requested information.
8. Current collection summary
NyaIcon may collect identifiers such as an IP address or support email address; internet or other electronic activity such as normalized request paths, request times, campaign identifiers, response information, and app or operating-system details; and the contents of support communications you send. We use these categories to provide, secure, diagnose, measure, and support the Services as described in Section 2. We retain them as described in Section 6. We do not sell these categories or share them for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not ask you to provide sensitive personal information.
9. Children’s privacy
The Services are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from a child under 13 without required parental consent. If we learn that a child under 13 provided personal information in a way not permitted by law, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review it.
10. International data transfers
NyaIcon and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection laws from your location.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Services or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy and change the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice when reasonably practical.
12. Contact us
